Pete's principal sent this reply to our earlier email exchange:
HI MN, in CMS educational absences are at the principal's discretion. With help from the SLT we set up guidelines. Visiting family members is not excused at [this] Montessori. When you have time, I will be glad to discuss this with you.
Is it just me? I'm done thinking about this. We're going regardless so it doesn't really matter.

I'm loving public school at this time. We told Pete's cousin's teachers that we were travelling for a family reunion and they said "have a great time" and something about making up homework.
Of course, it is NH...

That's just it, Bro! This is public school. I don't think we'd be having this problem if it wasn't! I should have just called her in sick like I did when we came to visit you guys at the Grandpa's house. Try to do the right thing...
