NaNoWriMo Day 1

I almost forgot that today was the first day of NaNoWriMo! Luckily I remembered in plenty of time to drag myself away from whatever mind numbing waste of time I was doing in time to knock out 2000+ words before Husbandguy got home for lunch.

Today I learned:
  • My audience is even younger than I thought.
  • Lulu's adventures do translate into cute stories.
  • Today I am able ignore the little voice in my head that says, "This is too terribly simple. That character should have a name. You should go back and write what she was feeling right now instead of going on. Etc." Turns out there's another voice in my head that knows those things can wait.
  • If I get to write every day, I will need to write 1700 words a day to win NaNoWriMo. Since I don't get a lot of time to write on the weekends, I am shooting for closer to 2500 words a day. Today it was easy. Tomorrow?
  • The NaNo website is busy at 1:30 in the afternoon on Day 1.
Oh hey! How was your Halloween? Me? I'm glad it's over. Halloween is my least favorite holiday. Followed closely by Valentine's Day (that was the day I was diagnosed with MS, but I still like to make cards for my girls).

How can Halloween possibly be your least favorite holiday??? It's my absolute favorite!!! I seriously love it, all the gorey, scary, macabre elements of it are so fun to indulge in. The candy I can take or leave, but the costumes and decor are THE BEST.

Sounds like a solid writing goal! We make all holidays ridiculous, so they're tons of fun.
