Does this happen to all writers?

I was feeling glowy and proud of this story I wrote.

Then I submitted it somewhere.

Now it seems trite and shallow and unpublishable, and I can't read it anymore.

I'm pretty sure I'm on my way to my very first rejection for several reasons, but not because the story isn't good. It is, and I will be submitting it other places too.

Once I get out of this inadequacy funk I'm in.

Trust me. It happens to all writers.

The best thing to do before submitting a piece is to put it away for a month.

Then revisit it. Make a world of difference.

You're not unique in that feeling. Keep submitting it. From all the writers that I follow here in the blogworld, I find that most of them have a huge pile of rejection letters (even those who are well published).

Hi Bel,

Rejection really sucks and I'm sure most writers can relate to how you are feeling. I submitted my poetry and was rejected a few times. I'm working on self publishing now. Perhaps you'll consider it too at some point. Certainly don't give up. Keep writing and putting yourself out there. It's okay to take a break from the same project as well.
